Interview with Industry Expert:
Tropical Seas Founder | Tyler Blendowski
Can you tell us about your journey in the sustainable fashion industry?
Tyler: “Hi there! I'm so glad to be here today. My passion for sustainable fashion really kicked off in 2017 while I was out spearfishing with a friend. I was struck by the amount of pollution I saw and it really hit home for me how much damage that our daily life practices and “fast fashion” are doing to our planet and communities. I was driven to find a solution and started looking into ways to create fashion that not only looked great, but was also environmentally and ethically responsible. I eventually landed on using long-lasting and sustainable materials like organic cotton and recycled polyester combined with incorporating eco-friendly production methods into my designs. It's been a challenging journey, but one that has been incredibly rewarding. I'm passionate about spreading the word about sustainable fashion and teaching others why it's so important, so that makes staying motivated pretty easy.”
What inspired you to start Tropical Seas?
Tyler: “Growing up, I was always a huge fan of Hawaiian shirts and tropical-style clothing. But, it was my love for wildlife conservationist Steve Irwin and my experiences living on the water and witnessing the negative effects of pollution that inspired me to care deeply about the environment. I wanted to do my part in making a difference, so I started my own sustainable clothing brand. My goal was to create unique and stylish tropical clothing that was not only good for the environment, but also ethically made. I want people to get a good feeling about wearing Tropical Seas clothing that was not only fashionable but also made a positive impact on the world.”
What sets Tropical Seas apart from other sustainable fashion brands?
Tyler: "At Tropical Seas, we are committed to promoting sustainable fashion by using only the most eco-friendly and ethical manufacturing processes. Our focus is on sourcing the highest quality sustainable materials, such as organic cotton and recycled polyester, to create our Eco-friendly clothing line. We believe in transparency and accountability, and make sure that our products are manufactured in a way that is both socially responsible and minimizes our carbon footprint. We are dedicated to doing our part in promoting sustainable fashion practices."
